Mohanas with their boathouses have been part of Pakistani culture since time immemorial and Najam has spent years documenting their life. The Silk Road Centre in collaboration with the Taxila Institute of Asian Civilizations (TIAC), Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) and Photographic Society of Pakistan (PSOP) organized an event to launch the Mohanas of Indus – A Photographic Odyssey, a book by Syed Najam ul Hassan. xx
The first international conference on Buddhism in Pakistan will be held by the Taxila Institute of Asian Civilizations (TIAC) in collaboration with the Silk Road Centre (SRC) in October later this year. This announcement was made at a press launch event held at TIAC-QAU.
In collaboration with Quaid-i-Azam University’s Taxila Institute of Asian Civilizations and the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) Pakistan, the Silk Road Centre organized a symposium on the rural heritage of Pakistan. Parliamentary Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Andleeb Abbas presided over the symposium.
This new project is an initiative by Silk Road Centre to mobilize the small community of 400 people in Pakistan’s Hunza valley to revive their ancient language.
